A few weeks ago, we received a package from a customer. Inside were a few empty bottles, a brief product description, and a note: "We need the right liner. Can you help?"

This happens more often than you might think. Many buyers know what they want to package - but they don't always know which liner will actually seal it. And honestly, that's not their job. Their job is to get the product to market. Our job is to figure out the sealing.

 

 

What We Actually Do When We Get Your Bottles

 

 

When a package of samples arrives, we don't guess. We go through a process - one we've refined over many customer projects.

Step 1: Check the bottle.

First, we look at the bottle material - PE, PP, PET, or glass. Then the neck finish. Then we check the diameter. These three things alone already narrow down the liner options significantly.

Step 2: Understand the product.

What's going inside? Is it a thick cream, a watery serum, or a dry powder? Is it filled hot or cold? Will it be shipped across the ocean or sold locally? Each detail points us in a slightly different direction.

Step 3: Propose options.

We typically offer two or three liner choices. Sometimes pressure sensitive works best; sometimes we recommend an induction seal. We explain why each option makes sense for their specific bottle and product - so the customer can make an informed choice without needing to be a sealing expert.

Step 4: Make samples and show the test.

This is the part I personally enjoy most. We prepare the samples, run the seals, and film the whole process. We send the customer a short video - sometimes just two or three minutes - showing the liner being applied, the seal forming, and the peel result. It's one thing to read a spec sheet. It's another thing to actually see the seal hold.

A Recent Case: When Induction Sealing Didn't Work

 

A customer reached out to us with an interesting challenge. They had aluminum bottles with plated aluminum + plastic caps, and they needed to seal capsules inside. At first glance, this seemed like a straightforward case - we recommended our universal induction seal liner, which typically works well for a wide range of bottle and cap combinations.

 

We made the samples, ran the test, and filmed the process as we always do. But when we checked the seal, something was off. The liner wasn't bonding properly.

 

We took a closer look. It turned out that the metal content in the cap - the plated aluminum layer - was interfering with the electromagnetic induction field during the sealing process. The induction heat simply wasn't reaching the liner the way it should. The metal in the cap was blocking the energy needed to activate the heat seal layer.

 

So we pivoted. Instead of continuing with induction, we recommended our pressure sensitive liner (PS liner) - which doesn't rely on heat or electromagnetic fields at all. It seals through direct contact pressure when the cap is tightened. No induction, no interference.

 

We made new samples, ran the test again, and filmed it. This time, the seal held perfectly. We sent the video to the customer, explained the technical reasoning, and confirmed that the pressure sensitive liner was the right solution for their application.
